In order to work hard, children must come to school prepared. We check everyone’s equipment every morning and if they are missing something we will provide it. 

All equipment must be kept in a 30cm see-through pencil case, as this is a requirement for their exams and creates parity for all children.

All students in Y7-11 and those who study maths or science in sixth form must have a casio scientific calculator. When taken care of properly, calculators will last for years. They are essential for success in maths and science exams. As a school, we cannot lend all children calculators. We recommend the Casio fx-83GTCW because this is the calculator teachers will use when modelling to children in lessons.

If children forget three pieces of equipment in one week, or if their equipment is damaged and requires replacing, they receive detention. All detentions are on the same day after school.

Year 7 students will be provided with the equipment below, excluding the calculator, free of charge.

•  Timetable (provided by the school at the start of each term)

• Independent learning book (for homework working out and cover lessons in school – provided by the school)

• A Casio scientific calculator (Casio fx-83GTCW model available to buy here)

Please note, at the start of Year 7, all students will be provided with a full pencil case, with all equipment other than the calculator. After this time, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure they have their equipment with them every day and to replace any equipment that is damaged, lost or used up. The only exception to this is mini whiteboard pens, which the school will replace when they run out.

 

What happens if a student does not have an item of equipment?

Missing equipment results in a signature on the RfL card. Three signatures within a week will result in a detention. We replace all equipment, other than calculators, during tutor time, because we believe that no student’s learning should be disrupted or inhibited because of lack of equipment.
