Attendance Support

At Hartland High School, we are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers to ensure every student attends regularly, feels supported, and reaches their full potential. If you are experiencing challenges with your child’s attendance, please reach out to us early so we can work together to find solutions.

How to Access Attendance Support

Our dedicated attendance team and pastoral staff are here to help remove any barriers to regular school attendance.

  • Student In School Support: We strongly encourage any student who is struggling or feeling anxious about school to speak directly to their Head of Year or another trusted adult at school. Having an open conversation early allows us to put personalised support in place.

  • Email Support: Parents and carers can contact our attendance team directly at attendance@hartlandhigh.co.uk

  • External Guidance: For further advice, policy details, and national guidance, you can explore the government’s official resources on School Attendance and Absence.

Top Tips for Parents: Supporting the Mission

 1. The Power of Influence

Your perspective on school life has a significant impact on your child’s willingness to engage. Take time to celebrate the exciting opportunities on offer, from our diverse enrichment activities to the joy of Fun Fridays. To stay updated on weekly events and positive school highlights, please follow our official Facebook page.

2. Healthy Sleep Routines and Phone Usage

Many students share that late-night mobile phone usage makes it difficult to get a restful night's sleep. We highly recommend keeping phones in a separate room during sleep time and using a traditional alarm clock to help students arrive at school refreshed. Parents can also use built-in parental control apps to automatically manage internet access and screen time at bedtime:

  • Android Users: Search for Google Family Link

  • iPhone Users: Search for Apple Family Sharing

3. Scheduling Medical Appointments

Please schedule non-urgent medical appointments, dental checkups, and family commitments outside of school hours whenever possible. Where appointments during the school day are unavoidable, please notify the attendance team in advance and ensure your child returns to school as soon as their appointment finishes.
